What is individual patient messaging?

Hero's individual messaging allows you to send communications by SMS or Email to individual patients.

For SMS communications, you can send a short message (up to 600 characters) directly to a patient's mobile number. SMS are charged directly by our integrated SMS gateway 'Firetext'. By default, patient's can't reply to your SMS message - although, you can opt to include a one-time link for patients to respond with text, images or documents.

For email communication, there is no restriction on the length of your message. The message is sent from a 'no-reply' Hero email address, although you can include a link for patients to submit a one-time reply with text, images or documents.

When would you use patient messaging?

There are many ways to use messaging to communication with your patients. A few to consider could be:

  • To inform a patient of test results from a recent appointment.

  • Offering a follow up appointment after a recent consultation.

  • Offering a free NHS health check using the self-booking links.

  • Responding to a query raised by a patient.

  • Requesting information from a patient using our 'allow response' feature e.g a description of their health issue accompanied with an image upload.
