In this article we look at how to register a patient within Hero and connect them to your EHR. By connecting a patient to your EHR their bookings will automatically go into your EHR additionally you'll be able to save message and questionnaire response to their medical record.

What is an unregistered patient in Hero?

If you are using Hero's EMIS/SystmOne integrated feature such as appointment booking or save to record for message and questionnaire response you patient in Hero will need to be connected with their patient record in your EHR.

  • If your connected to EMIS, Hero will connect to the patient's record through their EMIS ID

  • If you connected to SystmOne, Hero will connect to the patient's record through their NHS number

Therefore an unregistered patient in Hero is a patient record in Hero which does not have the necessary EMIS ID or NHS number associated to it.

How do I register a patient in Hero?

There are 2 ways to register patient in Hero, via the patients card (located through out the app) or via the unregistered booking table under the appointments menu.

Register a patient via the patient card

  1. Whenever you have a patient in context, either viewing a notification, reviewing an appointment or anywhere where there is the patient card, you will be abled to click on the patient name to open their dashboard

  2. Once on the dashboard you can click the ✏️ Edit button below the patients name and this will open the patient details sidebar.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the sidebar and you will be able to add the patient EMIS ID or NHS number if you are connected to SystmOne.

  4. Then click save and this will automatically update the patients record.

Register a patient through the unregistered patient table

If a patient books online and they are not connected to your EHR they will appear in the unregistered patient to make it easy for you to know who needs to be registered.

  1. Navigate to the Unregistered table by clicking on πŸ•“ Appointments on the navigation bar on the left side of the page

  2. This table will show you any patient that have appointment in your EHR appointment book, to register the patient click Resolve

  3. This will open a modal where you will be able to enter either the patients EMIS ID or they NHS number if you are connected to SystmOne

  4. Once you have either entered the patients EMIS ID or NHS number or selected from the suggested you can click Resolve, this will automatically update the patient record in Hero and resync any appointments with your EHR.
