What is Signature Rx?
Signature Rx is an electronic private prescription system for clinicians to securely and safely send private prescriptions electronically.
Signature Rx scripts can be sent directly to a patient via SMS and Email. Once a patient receives their prescription via SMS or Email, they can access their medication via one of two methods:
Present the scripts to almost any pharmacy, who then dispense the medication. You can track whether a script has been dispensed, and cancel any undispensed scripts.
Request the medication be posted directly to them - the Signature Rx pharmacy will handle the next-day postage directly
Hero integrates with Signature Rx to enable privately issued medications from EMIS to be sent to patients electronically.
Why use an electronic private prescribing solution?
A common response from private GPs using EMIS to issue private prescriptions is 'why would I need Signature Rx?'. There are a few reasons to consider an electronic private prescription solution:
Simplicity - Once a medication has been issued, rather than printing the script and giving it to the patient / posting the script to a patient / emailing the script to the pharmacy, you simply send the script via Signature Rx
Speed & convenience - If you are remote consulting by telephone or video, you can send the script to the patient immediately and they can choose their preferred pharmacy to collect the medication
Awareness - Pharmacies are familiar with the Signature Rx solution, and so there are few issues with rejecting private scripts
Security & compliance - Paper scripts are inherently risky. They can be lost (deliberately or mistakenly) and as a practice, you won't get a dispensing notification, so have no way of auditing whether a medication has been issued.
How can I setup a Signature Rx account?

What are Signature Rx's fees?
Signature Rx charges a small fee per prescription issued, comparable to the postage charge from posting a paper script. You can find out more on the Signature Rx website.
