Learn about eConsult's Smart Inbox

Updated over a week ago

Hero's self-booking appointment links can be shared from directly within eConsult's Smart Inbox. Learn how to integrate Hero and eConsult, and start using this functionality.

What is eConsult's Smart Inbox?

Practices using eConsult invite patients to complete online consultations through their website. Patient submissions end with one of two outcomes:

  1. eConsult is registered as a medical device, meaning that the patient-triage functionality can intelligently (and autonomously) assess the information provided by the patient, and if necessary direct the patient to urgent care.

  2. Where urgent care is not necessary, the information provided by the patient is submitted into the eConsult Smart Inbox.

The Smart Inbox is a workflow tool, that allows practices to assign triages to teams and add flagging to emphasise high priority submissions. Practices work through the submissions, and are often able to close patient enquiries remotely by offering asynchronous advice or directing them to external services, such as Local Pharmacy.

What are self-booking links in Hero?

Self-booking links are URLs (web links) that enable patients to independently book appointments online.

Hero's self-booking links have been made available through the eConsult Smart Inbox. When you issue a link, you define the:

  • Appointment-type

  • Location

  • Practitioner (optional)

  • Link expiry window

Links are all patient-specific. The patient receives the link, confirms their date of birth and then picks a suitable appointment time. Appointment times are retrieved from the EMIS or Systm1 appointment book, and once confirmed the booking will show in the EMIS or Systm1 appointment book.
