We have recently enabled multi-factor authentication to Hero Health, providing an extra layer of security for users. Over the coming weeks we’ll be shifting to a mandatory ‘multi-factor authentication'. In line with the latest recommendations from the National Cyber Security Centre, multi-factor authentication will become a requirement for all users. This additional layer of cyber security ensures that account access is granted only to verified users, significantly reducing the risk of compromise. When logging into Hero, you will need to provide a ‘second-factor’ code, either via email or an authenticator app.
How do I use MFA?
You are able to set up MFA in two different ways, you can use email or a multi-factor authentication app. Once you have entered your password, you will be given the option of email, MFA app or you currently have the option to skip multi-factor authentication (this option will be removed in the near future).
Email: To use your email as MFA, select the 'Email' option. You will then need to re-enter your email address and a one time code will be sent to your email address. Copy this code and enter it in the 'One time code' field. You will then be authenticated into Hero. You will need to enter a one time code from your email every time you sign into Hero.
Authenticator app: To use an authenticator app, you will first need to download one if you have not already. On an apple device, go to the Apple app store and search for 'authenticator'. We recommend using Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator. For android, go to the Google play store app and search for 'authenticator'. Once you have downloaded your app you will be prompted to sign in. Once you have completed the sign in steps, click 'Authenticator app' in Hero and then click the plus button (+) and scan the QR code shown on Hero. The QR code is a one time step to link your authenticator app to Hero. You will then receive a one time code in your authenticator app to enter on Hero. Once this has been entered, you will be authenticated into Hero. You will need to enter a one time code from your authenticator app every time you sign into Hero.
To skip MFA: If you would not like to use MFA, you can simply click 'Don't use multi-factor authentication' and you will be able to authenticate with just your email and password. This option will be deprecated in the coming weeks.
